Adult Program Options

Intensive Inpatient Program for Adults
Our intensive inpatient program is designed to provide treatment to adults age 18 and over with severe and/or persistent mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder. The staff teaches patients how to lessen symptoms by developing healthy coping strategies to manage their issues. The doctors will work closely with patients to achieve the best course of treatment specific to the individual. Patients can expect a comprehensive discharge plan addressing any psychosocial factors contributing to their hospitalization.

Acute Inpatient Program for Adults
The acute program for adults is a specialized acute level of care designed to meet the needs of adults age 18 and over experiencing stressful life situations resulting in severe depression, anxiety, inability to care for oneself, and/or a variety of other mood-related issues. The staff is trained to help patients utilize their strengths and resources to address these problems head-on. Our goal is to help them return to their daily life as soon as possible.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Adults
IOP is offered from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., three days a week. IOP is appropriate for patients who are not in need of the full day programming that is part of PHP. Patients meet with staff psychiatrist regularly for medication monitoring.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for Adults
PHP is a highly structured, day program designed to help prevent hospitalization or to facilitate the transition from the hospital back into the community after an inpatient stay for a mental illness or co-occurring disorder. The multidisciplinary staff of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and social workers will create an individualized treatment plan for each patient that’s updated through the course of the program.

This plan may involve a mix of individual and group therapy, psychiatrist visits, case manager meetings and family contact. Discharge planning begins at admission and involves collaboration between patient, family, collateral supports and outpatient providers to ensure continued improvement and long-term recovery.

PHP is offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. This includes a minimum amount of group therapy sessions per day to help patients develop new coping skills.

Psychoeducational group topics include:

  • Anger management
  • Assertiveness training
  • Chemical dependency, relapse prevention and recovery fundamentals (12-step)
  • Coping skills and stress management
  • Grief and loss
  • Guilt vs. shame
  • Spirituality/cultural issues
  • Family education
  • Healthy relationships and interpersonal boundaries
  • Medical, nutrition and health education
  • Personal development and values clarification
